NHS Barnsley have worked together with professionals and young people in Barnsley to deliver a local campaign to tackle teen pregnancy and STIs in Barnsley.

Sexually-transmitted Infections (STI’s)

If you suspect you have a sexually-transmitted infection (STI) you can visit the Family Planning and Reproductive Health Care Service based at Queens Road or GU Med Services at Barnsley Hospital. Both the Family Planning and Reproductive Health Care and GU Med services operate Monday to Friday with a number of drop-in sessions for those working during the day or studying.

Emergency Contraception

Emergency Contraception can be taken up to 72 hours (3 days) after unprotected sex to avoid pregnancy. This is available weekdays at the Family Planning and Reproductive Health Care service at Queens Road Clinic, your GP’s surgery and some pharmacies across the Barnsley borough.

Sexual health services for young people

JusTeens – Sexual Health Service for Young People

JusTeens is a new initiative set up by Barnsley Primary Care Trust to provide a safe place for teenagers within the community to meet up, spend time together and seek advice on sexual health, contraception and youth worker advice.

Sessions have been specifically designed to meet the needs of young people, supported by qualified, experienced staff.

JusTeens groups are held at various places across Barnsley. No appointments are necessary and all services are FREE and confidential.  Please call 01226 249949 for more information. JusTeens groups are currently held at:
