Contraception and Sexual Health is comprised of a team of professionals working together to provide the people of Barnsley with a full range of sexual health services including contraceptive choice, counselling, male health and well woman services, STI and Cervical screening for all.

Our service is confidential and we treat every individual with dignity and respect.

Available to all

We cater for both males and females, aged 13 to 65, running appointment sessions at Queens Road and other satellite clinics thoughtout the borough.

Young People

We provide specialised services for young people through the JusTeens clinics across Barnsley. These are targeted at young people between 13 and 20 with clinics for those up to 25 at college sites. The JusTeens clinic sessions are drop-in and no appointment is required.

Accessing the service

Referral to the service can be made without your GP. You can telephone the clinic directly during opening times and an appointment can usually be made for the next few days.

If an emergency appointment is required this can usually be accommodated. Please telephone the clinic to arrange an emergency appointment.

Where are we?

Contraception and Sexual Health is based at the Queens Road Clinic near the Barnsley Metrodome. We also support a network of community clinics based at the following locations:

  • Athersley
  • Grimethorpe
  • Thurnscoe
  • Wombwell

Travelling by public transport

From the bus station, over the railway crossing under the bridge, turn left and take the first right onto Queens Road, we are based in the Queens Road Clinic half way up the hill on your right.

Travelling by car

Follow the signs for the Metrodome, at the end of Belgrave Road at the T junction turn left we are situated on the left before the school.
